Last week I was in Sint Maarten (we made it out of the Caribbean just in time - before hurricane Dean hit). The Caribbean is always fun. It's just so relaxing and beautiful. However, this time it wasn't all rest and relaxation. My brother, my sister, my father and I took a three-day course and now we are all PADI certified open water divers. We did two dives a day for 3 days - 1 confined and 1 open water dive each day. On the last day we did 2 open water dives - at 50 and 60 feet. It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. Just amazing. I snorkel a lot, but it's a totally different experience. Anyone who's ever dove knows what I'm talking about. Now that I'm back in NJ I miss diving every day. I'd gotten used to it. And I don't think I'll dive again til we get back to the Caribbean. I went into every single store in downtown Westfield that had a help wanted sign, and still nothing. The only good news is that I went into a nice little photography studio that they have there, and offered my services as an assistant. They said they didn't have anything available for me at the moment, but they asked me to leave my name and contact information, so hopefully that'll lead me somewhere eventually. However, as for my current job situation, I think I'll go into Cranford at some point and see if anyone's hiring there. I seem to be developing tendonitis in my left wrist (probably due to bassoon playing - carpal tunnel is all too common for bassoonists) so it's been difficult type and use the computer, and almost impossible to support my 20d with anything more than a 50mm f/1.8 lens on it. My wonderful stepmother is a connoisseur (I think I spelled that right...) of essential oils and healing techniques, and she's helping me out with it, so it should be better soon.
